Nominate a cool woman-owned business in the NY-metro area!
I am a Co-founder of Cocoon, an entry-level recruiting firm, and we are launching an initiative to connect talented female college graduates with small- to medium-sized women-owned businesses. At the moment, I am compiling a list of employers with whom we would like to work, and I was wondering if you had any NY-metro area women-owned businesses you would like to nominate.

Thanks!

I have made the bold decision to go to law school and intend to focus on international women's human rights!

Last night I went to a "Cocktails with Candidates" event organized by the Grassroots Initiative, where I met some amazing people running for office...and was convinced that I should run too one day! So...the next thing I'm going to do is take the White House Project's training on how to run for office in September! For more info check out the White House Project.

I will let my sister inspire you--
After a 4 month Hurrication following Katrina, Dana returned to her home in New Orleans, quit her job with the Louisianna Endowment for the Arts, and began running StayLocal, an organization devoted to promoting local business. Despite the fact that gov't aid goes disproportionately to corporate big box stores, locally owned businesses were vital to the early recovery. For more info check out www.risingfromruins.com or staylocal.org.

I just finished my novel! I'm looking forward to getting feedback, but for now, I'm reveling in the fact that I actually finished it!

I am on a crazy ride of a life right now, but it could be inspiring if you are in the right frame of mind. I started a course in Plant Spirit Medicine this spring (I recommend the book by the same title, by Eliot Cowan). Since then nothing has been the same. (but when has it ever?) Before this I was a Waldorf teacher, which I also recommend if you are of a mind to do something amazingly challenging and growth-inducing. I recently went back to my home state, Oregon, and connected with the Sacred Salmon Ceremony organized by Grandmother Agnes Baker Pilgrim, spokeswoman for the International Council of 13 Indigenous Grandmothers. The next council meeting is in Lincoln City, Oregon in August. Check this out, it's very important! I also just heard of the Good Medicine Women's Gathering in Williams, Oregon in August. I hope I can make it to one or both of these events. Last but not least, I was unexpectedly invited to go see Amma in Iowa this week. Known as "the hugging saint," Amma is an embodiment of the Divine Mother. Besides giving amazing hugs (Darshan), she also initiates an incredible amount of charity work.

After I graduate massage school, I would like to get involved in volunteering with AIDs Project Rhode Island as a massage therapist. AND it would be wonderful to participate in an active Red Tent Group in Rhode Island.
