As some of you know I had a son born 2 months premature who passed away after 3 weeks of life due to heart problems. He was born July 27, 2009 and passed on August 21, 2009. I was pumping to give milk for him to the hospital (...they had begun tube feeding him breastmilk and weening him onto that as they weened him off the IV and it upset his stomach, he got sick the second time they tried and was transfered to another hospital in case he needed intestine surgery, was put on antibiotics and a PIC IV to give him more nutrients over a longer period of time then died within a few days...) and so I wouldn't dry up when I was allowed to try breastfeeding, but I never got the chance to.
I pumped from when he was born until about a week or two after he passed that it took me to ween myself off the pumper. It took about one-two months to dry up all the way. A couple weeks ago my breasts started to be tender and hurt on the sides and it was the same sensation as when I had milk but I thought nothing of it. Then this last week or so I've had an excess of clear stretchy discharge (I never have discharge but rarely, I'm on the pill...).
Not last night but the night before I took my pill about 3 hours late. Taking it late never does anything unless I don't take it all night, until the following morning, then I have a day, day and a half, of spotting and cramping. Then yesterday I had intercourse and shortly after began spotting and it was pink in color, it's usually brown. I had bad cramps last night and today I have discharge that has a pink-brown tint.
Also last night, the most interesting thing out of all of it and the main point of this... I began lactating. I squeezed just a couple drops from my nipples, one from the left and a few from the right. Then again today I squeezed some from my right nipple. I remember when I was pumping my milk tasted sweet and it was milky in color and appearance. This is an off-white, yellow tinted milky, milk and doesn't taste sweet at all.
Is this normal? To randomly begin lactating again after you've dried up months after giving birth? Could my body acting strangely with and the pill have anything to do with the milk production? Or could it be something else entirely? I've also been having many sensations in my abdomen that feel just like when I was pregnant, baby kicks and flutters, but I've taken two pee tests that both read negative. I've also been extremely emotional and quick to extreme emotions, such as anger, frustration, jealousy, and coming close to tears from simple things, like talking about my community project or the Haitians. Could it just be a hormonal imbalance? Or my chakras? An "invisible" pregnancy? Is there anything I can do?
