Red Tent Women's Project

Where women transform the world

Hello Red Tenters!
Those of us holding the Red Tent space want to know...what are your dreams and desires for 2009? (Resolutions is such a weighty word...we like desires better!) What are your goals, for yourself, for the world, etc.? But most of all for yourself!

Please share them with this community so we can be inspired by your energy and genius.

I have so many desires for 2009! And they're all delicious.

I desire to help President-elect Obama take this country higher.

I desire for the Red Tent Women's Project to be a network that offers resources to women all over the world, empowering and educating everyone who looks at our red (okay, burgundy) pages. I desire for the Red Tent to be a clearinghouse for help, resources, ideas, and women supporting each other in bringing our dreams to fruition, whether it's running for office or having a safe place to live.

I desire for the Red Tent Women's Project to pay me for all of my hard work.

I desire to get out of debt. I desire to deepen my relationships with friends and family. I desire to view taking care of myself and my health as a joy rather than a chore.

I desire to hear some of your desires!
Eryka- Thanks for being so open about your desires. I appreciate that you chose to use the word "desires."

It is useful to phrase our wishes for ourselves in those terms. "Wanting" for something is such a passive way to phrase something as meaningful, as fraught with passion as our aspirations for ourselves and our worlds. The passion to achieve something is the aspect of momentum that we can control. Our passion is implicit in our desires.

To view our goals as "desires" takes into account our function in their realization. In this crazy, busy, stressed-out world, it's the things we can't help but see that we end up bringing about.

There are many times when I want ice cream. You could say I always "want" ice cream. But when I desire ice cream, or a good grade, or a good President, or a clue about my future, it seems much more tangible. Like I can almost taste it. And then I'm feeling that specific hunger, I carry it with me, it's in my gut and on my tongue and Damn I WILL be satiated...

On that note, I desire the presence to meet all the challenges I will face in the next year with grace, hope and comfort in the love/joy that rise up in me and to meet me.

Oh, and to more fully shake out the remnants of my polite little girl self, to make more room for my honest streak of sass, aka: my fire, my "masculinity", my power, my muscle, my wit... Watch out, people of the future.

Be well, all!
