Circumcision is not simple and beneficial. In fact, it interferes with how intercourse SHOULD be.

As an American woman, I've grown up hearing the automatic defenses of amputating the foreskin of baby boys: cleaner, painless, prevent stds, etc.  I've learned though, that those defenses are, well,…Continue

"Statistics are very hard to find. Even in the US it's difficult. It's probable that it's currently 40% here, and 20% worldwide, but that's just a guess."

"That looks like a fascinating read.  It makes sense that circumcision was a way of torturing enemies.  What a cruel practice.  Do you know how many men in the world are circumcised at birth? "

"Circumcision has a pretty fascinating past.  I believe it was a way to torture the enemy, and a mark of slavery for those captured in battle in the earliest times.  There's an incredible book called Marked in Your Flesh by historian…"

Children's Rights

Why it is said that circumcision violates a child's rights?Circumcision on a healthy child is amputation of a healthy body part. You have to put it in perspective of equality, not normality. That means you ask: could you amputate any other healthy part? (no, they have the right to keep their healthy parts) Could you amputate that same part from a man or a woman without asking [yes women have foreskin]? (no, they have the right to their autonomy) In order to treat the child like an equal, you…See More

As an American woman, I've grown up hearing the automatic defenses of amputating the foreskin of baby boys: cleaner, painless, prevent stds, etc.  I've learned though, that those defenses are, well, just defenses, and false ones at that.  There are a lot of negatives to circumcision and unfortunately, they're only JUST NOW being brought to light. I don't want to talk about pain, stds or equality in rights right now, though.  Since this is a women's community, I want to talk about what the…See More

Even when you lose, you are winning.

For everyone who spends their precious energy spreading the word about Genital Integrity and the harms of genital mutilation, Attachment Parenting and the harms of spanking or crying it out, or the superiority of mother's milk.  Don't get frustrated! Don't give up! Remember: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO WIN! The task is NOT to change the mind of the person who happens to choose to argue with you.  Those who disagree and spend their time opposing your message may likely never change their mind. They were…See More

Profile Information

What issues are most important to you?
The way we are treated as infants and children has a drastic impact on the values society reflects, and achieving peace. It seems so simple, yet we somehow miss the way children's needs are going unmet. I support Attachment Parenting, ie: baby wearing, breastfeeding, no spanking, co-sleeping, and genital integrity.
What kind of social activism do you engage in?
I mostly consider myself an intactivist. I educate people about the danger and damage of circumcision, and the benefit of intact genitals.
What organizations do you love or work with?
Intact America, NOCIRC, Doctors Opposing Circumcision, The Whole Network
What books, music, films, etc. do you think educate and empower women?
Actually, the book Cunt comes to mind. I also have a Cunt coloring book (different author). When it comes to feeling empowered according to your gender, the genitals really are a center of identity of that power. Both of those 'books' have made me feel comfortable and proud to be a woman. I haven't seen the V-Monologues, but I bet they are the same.
Career: what do you do or want to do?
I work for an attorney who brings suits on behalf of children and adults damaged by circumcision.
What skills and interests to do you have to offer to others in the Red Tent Women's Project communty? This is your chance, so sell yourself!
I love activism and trying to bring positive change. It has an internal effect as well as an outer. I have a youtube channel where I discuss important issues relating to equality of rights. I have a class curriculum on circumcision and intact penile care (2hr).
What would you like other members of this community to know? About yourself, about the world...anything (try not to be profane, though)!
I have been an activist my entire adult life (puberty). Most of that has been centered on the men’s rights movement, and I have not had a very strong connection with women’s issues or with other women. I actually identify a little stronger as male than female. I have a mind to see that all of this change at least a little, and hope that this will be a great place for me to see that through. =)
What was your "women really matter and I'm going to do something about it" moment?
Honestly the most powerful "god damn it this HAS to change" moment I've ever had was about men's equality. I once realized what circumcision REALLY is, I vowed that I would end it despite never having met anyone with the same perspective. I remember that I was on the phone with my girlfriend Deanna driving in my car.
