Profile Information

What issues are most important to you?
Ending mental health oppression and oppression of all kinds, survivor empowerment, support for the arts, gender identity
What kind of social activism do you engage in?
Various installation works with social/political messages. Some have been staged in Oberlin, OH, others have been in NY, DC, and Asheville.
What organizations do you love or work with?
Lorain Country Rape Crisis, NASCO, Peace Action West, The Oberlin Review.
What books, music, films, etc. do you think educate and empower women?
Anything by bell hooks, SARK, Bessie Head.
Career: what do you do or want to do?
So many things! I want to be a part of the changes that will be happening in this country's infrastructure in the coming years. Sustainable design? Right now I'm a student, carpenter, artist, singer-songwriter. Another goal is to eventually be a practicing Art Therapist/Social Worker.
What skills and interests to do you have to offer to others in the Red Tent Women's Project communty? This is your chance, so sell yourself!
I am most interested in hearing and collecting others' stories, learning from them, commemorating them, and drawing inspiration and material from them. As an artist, I hope to communicate truths with my works that are not only my own.
What would you like other members of this community to know? About yourself, about the world...anything (try not to be profane, though)!
The life you want is yours to have! It's all within reach.
What was your "women really matter and I'm going to do something about it" moment?
Watching a woman who is very close to me struggle with mental health issues, and agonize over the life choices she has made. I want all the women I know to love their lives, feel safe and fulfilled.
