What was your "women really matter and I'm going to do something about it" moment?

My first job 20 years ago, right out of college, was in domestic violence. I was shocked to hear the stories of horrible abuse inflicted on women, but also sad to see women lose their power and their voice. I found my calling then and have been working towards empowering women ever since.
