What skills and interests to do you have to offer to others in the Red Tent Women's Project communty? This is your chance, so sell yourself!
Ive been a Counsellor for 15 years, working within a variety of settings within the voluntary sector. I am now fully self employed, and offer counselling/suprvision and personal development groups. I have taught pranayama yoga for 25 years both with adult education and privately, to help people learn how to relax and live more in the present moment. I have also done various trainings within the complimentary health field in particular reiki.
What would you like other members of this community to know? About yourself, about the world...anything (try not to be profane, though)!
Spirituality is a large part of my life and who I am. I am lucky enough to have met and learned from some extraordinary men and women. I strive to be comfortable with myself and to be accepting of myself and others, this is a work in progress. I dont like extremes of anything and seek to find a balance in all things.
What was your "women really matter and I'm going to do something about it" moment?
That was back in the 80s when I was sick of conforming to stereotypical norms especially around motherhood. Looking at the social stigmas that are attached to women. Working in the substance misuse field women that drank, and the social stigma and messages attached to them which men do not have to carry. Working with Domestic Violence and seeing the erosion of womens self worth.

Hi Carol

Thank you - I enjoyed meeting you too. It certainly was a lovely and unforgettable day.

I'm interested that you've written your comment on the US Red Tent website rather than ours... Any particular reason? We don't actually have a connection other than 'like minds'...

All the best
Jan
