We have have some super exciting news here at the Red Tent Women's Project!
The Red Tent Women’s Project is seeking committee members for its pilot Programming Committee in New York City. This is a wonderful opportunity to shape the direction of the Red Tent Women’s Project. You will be an integral part of the organization and will actively help determine its future.
As you might know, the Red Tent Women’s Project was founded in 2006 to create safe spaces for information and resource sharing in order to empower and educate women and girls of all backgrounds. For the past year or so, our presence has mostly been online, and we all deeply miss the connection and growth that comes from in-person meetings.
So we did some brainstorming and decided to create a Programming Committee to help program in-person events. The New York City committee will be the pilot program to help create Programming Committees all over the country and ultimately, the world. We recognize that a New Yorker would have a hard time dictating what would be the most appropriate programming for women in Iowa or Afghanistan, so we are aiming to keep it in local hands, and with the overarching goals of empowering and educating women and girls. Like a school board, but hopefully much more functional!
The role of the program committee is crucial to the future of the Red Tent Women’s Project. This is not an overstatement. It is actually true.
Who do we want? Fun, energetic people who play well with others and are open to learning from others. Since our goal is to hold events that empower and educate women and girls of all backgrounds, we are seeking those who identify as women of all backgrounds to join the committee.
In addition to committee members, we are also seeking a committee chair to act as a liaison between the staff and board of the Programming Committee and the Red Tent Women’s Project, and to, you know, get things done. We desire someone who is reliable, responsible, well-organized, able to delegate and motivate others, and obviously, is dedicated to empowering and educating women and girls of all backgrounds. Event planning and marketing/ communication skills are desirable, and of course, please be able to play well with others.
For info, please contact Eryka Peskin, director of the Red Tent Women’s Project, at info AT redtentwomensproject.org or via this board. For those of you who live outside of NYC but are intrigued by the idea, please contact me to to let me know!
